Restaurants & dining in Chester Park, Duluth, Minnesota
Part of the Chester Park neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
Chester Park eats better than its size suggests, because it has one genuine destination inside it and three different commercial nodes within a short trip.
The anchor is At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe at 1902 East 8th Street, a farm-to-table restaurant and bakery in a converted house beside the creek, doing breakfast through dinner. It has been the east side's favorite for years and it is walkable from most of the neighborhood.
The Loch Cafe and Games at 318 North 18th Avenue East is the other place inside the boundary, a cafe with board games, though its current operating status is not confirmed from a first-party source, so check before going.
Up at Mount Royal by the campuses, Bulldog Pizza and Grill at 101 Mount Royal Shopping Circle is the default student and post-game spot, and Tavern on the Hill at 1102 Woodland Avenue is a neighborhood bar and grill rather than a campus one. Further up in Kenwood, Perk Place Coffeehouse and Crooked Pint Ale House sit on West Arrowhead Road about six minutes away.
West across the creek, the cross-slope route reaches Burrito Union at 1332 East 4th Street and Positively 3rd Street Bakery at 1202 East 3rd Street without losing altitude. A mile downhill, East Superior Street brings Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake at 805 East Superior Street and Fitger's Brewhouse in the old brewery complex, and downtown's full range is about eight minutes by car.
