At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe occupies a converted building at 1902 East 8th Street in the Chester Park neighborhood, near where Chester Creek comes down the hill between the College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota Duluth. It has been the east side's farm-to-table anchor for years, serving breakfast through dinner with a bakery attached.
The kitchen leans on regional producers and keeps a deep vegetarian and gluten-free section, which in a city where the default menu runs to walleye and burgers made it distinctive early and keeps it busy now. The setting, a rambling house-scale space near the creek, does as much work as the food.
For Congdon Park residents it is roughly ten minutes west and functions as the closest full-service restaurant of consequence. From Lakeside and Lester Park it is a fifteen to eighteen minute drive. Weekend brunch is the busiest service and waits are normal.
