Piedmont has no restaurants of its own, and the Piedmont Avenue corridor is a scatter of everyday businesses rather than a dining strip. What makes this a non-problem is what sits six minutes downhill.
The Lincoln Park Craft District is the closest concentration of food and drink to this neighborhood and one of the best in the city. OMC Smokehouse does smoked meats with a patio on West Superior Street. Ursa Minor Brewing runs a taproom with rotating food trucks, Duluth Cider and Wildstate Cider give the district two cideries, and Bent Paddle Brewing anchors it from West Michigan Street. Duluth Grill, a few minutes further, is the west side's best-known restaurant, doing scratch cooking with gardens on the property and a weekend brunch wait that regulars plan around.
That is a genuinely good set of options within a seven-minute drive, and it is closer to Piedmont than the equivalent is to Hunter's Park or Woodland on the east side.
For anything else, Miller Hill is about eight minutes northeast and carries most of the region's chain dining, and downtown is ten minutes for the full range. The east side's restaurants, including At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe and Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake, are thirteen to fifteen minutes out.
