Piedmont

Local lore in Piedmont, Duluth, Minnesota

Part of the Piedmont neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.

  • Piedmont is where Duluth riders go to get worked. Within a network that includes smooth flow trails elsewhere, this is the rocky, technical end, and locals are proud of it.
  • The trail system turned an ordinary neighborhood into a destination. Steep rocky hillside that was useless for anything else became the reason people now choose this address.
  • The upper streets look straight out over the ore docks and the St. Louis River estuary, a working-harbor view that the east side's lake views do not offer.
  • Skyline Parkway runs along the top of the neighborhood, part of the boulevard system that also produced Seven Bridges Road at the far opposite end of the city.
  • Six minutes downhill is a district with four taprooms. Fifteen years ago it was empty storefronts.
  • Redfin rated Piedmont Heights its most competitive Duluth submarket in mid-2026, ahead of Congdon Park and every east-side neighborhood.
