Duluth Heights

Restaurants & dining in Duluth Heights, Minnesota

Part of the Duluth Heights neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.

Duluth Heights has more restaurants within walking distance than any neighborhood in this guide, and almost none of them are independent. The Miller Hill corridor carries the region's concentration of chain dining, and that is the honest description: convenient, familiar, and not why anyone visits Duluth.

For a household, that is genuinely useful on a Tuesday. For a weekend meal worth going out for, the good news is that the alternatives are close.

Ten minutes downhill is the Lincoln Park Craft District, which is the best value dining in the city. OMC Smokehouse does smoked meats with a patio, Bent Paddle Brewing anchors the district from West Michigan Street, Ursa Minor Brewing runs a taproom with food trucks, and Duluth Cider and Wildstate Cider give the area two cideries. Duluth Grill, the west side's best-known restaurant, does scratch cooking with gardens on the property and is about ten minutes away.

East, the twelve to thirteen minute run reaches At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe at 1902 East 8th Street for farm-to-table, and Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake at 805 East Superior Street for a pub meal with live music. Downtown, ten minutes south, carries the full range.

So the pattern here is chains at the door and genuinely good independents ten minutes away in three directions.
