Park Point itself has a hotel and gift stores and essentially no dining, which means every meal out crosses the bridge. The compensation is that what is on the other side is very good and very close.
Canal Park sits immediately across the Aerial Lift Bridge and is the city's waterfront dining and tourist district, with the widest concentration of restaurants and bars in Duluth within a few minutes of the Point. Downtown is just past it, roughly ten minutes, carrying the full range from casual to fine dining. For a neighborhood with no restaurants of its own, Park Point has better dining access than Hunter's Park, Woodland, or Kenwood.
Further afield, Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake at 805 East Superior Street is about twelve minutes for a pub meal, a deep tap list, and live music. At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe at 1902 East 8th Street is roughly fifteen minutes for farm-to-table. The Lakeside business block, with Amity Coffee and Sammy's Pizza, is around twenty, and Lake Superior Brewing a few minutes past that. The New Scenic Cafe on Highway 61 is about thirty minutes up the shore.
The one thing to plan around is the bridge. A dinner reservation and an outbound vessel do not mix, and residents learn to leave early during the shipping season.
