Park Point reads as a quiet, low-density residential neighborhood for most of the year and a busy public beach destination for part of the summer. The permanent population is small and largely long-tenured, and the community club is unusually active for a neighborhood this size.
For anything beyond feel, use city-published trend data rather than impressions. The Duluth Police Department's 2025 Annual Report is the right starting point for current citywide figures (accessed 2026-08-13), and citywide trends over the last several years have moved down in both violent and property offense counts. We describe streets and conditions, never the people who live on them.
The real risks here are environmental and access-related rather than criminal, and they are more serious than in any other neighborhood in this guide. Lake Superior drownings and rip currents near the ship canal are a documented hazard. Storm surge and shoreline erosion are ongoing threats to property. Emergency response depends on a single bridge, which the fire hall on the Point partly mitigates. And summer beach traffic on a narrow residential street is a pedestrian and cycling concern.
