About Amity Coffee
Amity Coffee is the morning anchor of the Lakeside business block, at 4429 East Superior Street. It takes its name from Amity Creek, the stream that runs down through Lester Park under the stone bridges of Seven Bridges Road a couple of miles east, which tells you roughly how the neighborhood thinks about itself.
The offering is specialty coffee and scones early, and wine and rotating taps later, which makes it one of the few places on the east end that works as both a weekday work spot and an evening stop (Destination Duluth, accessed 2026-08-13). Its arrival is part of the wave of businesses that opened on this block after the city council repealed Lakeside's dry charter in 2016.
For residents of Lakeside and Lester Park it functions as the neighborhood's default meeting place, which in a part of the city with no full grocery store and very little indoor commercial space is not a small role.
