Lake Superior Brewing sits at 5324 East Superior Street, at the seam between Lakeside and Lester Park, with craft beer, taproom food, and lodging on site (Destination Duluth, accessed 2026-08-13). It is the closest thing the far east end of Duluth has to a night out without driving downtown.
That role is worth stating plainly, because Lakeside spent 123 years unable to sell alcohol at all. The dry charter that came with annexation in 1893 stood until the city council repealed it on June 27, 2016, and a brewery on East Superior Street is about as clear a marker of that change as the neighborhood has.
Functionally it is the winter living room for Lester Park, where the population is spread out, the trails are the main social infrastructure, and there is nowhere else indoors to run into a neighbor in February. It is also a natural finish to a ride on the Duluth Traverse or a hike at Lester.
