Central Park has no restaurants of its own, and that is the clearest trade-off of living here. What it has is five minutes to all of Superior's.
Downtown and the north end of Tower Avenue carry the city's food and drink. The Anchor Bar at 413 Tower Avenue is the institution, run by the Anderson family since 1977, serving cheap generously built burgers and fresh-cut fries under a ceiling of maritime salvage. Thirsty Pagan Brewing at 1615 Winter Street does hand-stretched pizza and house beer in the 1908 Soo Line Freight Depot and is the default group dinner in the city. Earth Rider Brewery at 1617 North 3rd Street and its Cedar Lounge taproom, in a 1912 building billed as the longest continually operating tavern in the Twin Ports, anchor the music and beer scene.
Closer to the neighborhood's own street grid, Gronk's Grill and Bar at 4909 East 2nd Street sits on the same street Central Park is built along, further east toward Allouez, and covers the neighborhood bar and grill slot. Hammond Steak House at 1402 North 5th Street carries the Wisconsin supper club tradition, which is a genuinely different institution from anything on the Minnesota side.
For range and for fine dining, Duluth's Canal Park and Lincoln Park craft district are about fifteen minutes over the bridge. That is the honest answer for a special occasion, and it is how most households here treat it.
