Is Central Park (Superior), Wisconsin right for you?
Part of the Central Park (Superior) neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
You will love Central Park if you want an architecturally interesting house on a real lot at a price that still leaves room to maintain it, on quiet flat streets five minutes from a downtown and fifteen from Duluth. It suits families who want space and quiet without a hillside, restorers who will actually enjoy a hundred-year-old house, first-time buyers who can start in a bungalow on the neighborhood's later blocks, and anyone who has compared this against Duluth's east side and decided the lot size and the level driveway are worth more than the view.
Look elsewhere if you want to walk to a coffee shop, because there is no commercial block inside the neighborhood and there is not going to be one. Look elsewhere if you are buying primarily for appreciation, because Superior has lagged Duluth for decades and nothing about this neighborhood changes that. Look elsewhere if an old house's maintenance list would be a source of dread rather than a project. And look elsewhere if you need new construction or single-level low-maintenance living, which barely exists here.
If you like the architecture but want to be able to walk to a bar and a brewery, look at downtown Superior or the North End. If you want the same quiet residential feel with the city's best park attached, look at Billings Park. If you want a lower entry price and more postwar housing, look at the South End.
