Irving has nothing of its own, and it does not need much, because the Spirit Valley strip is immediately north and, from much of the neighborhood, walkable on flat ground.
That strip carries the everyday west-side restaurants along a real main street and is where most residents go without thinking about it.
Nine to ten minutes northeast is the Lincoln Park Craft District, which is the reason this neighborhood eats better than its price suggests: Duluth Grill for scratch cooking, OMC Smokehouse for barbecue with a patio, Bent Paddle Brewing and Ursa Minor for taprooms, and Duluth Cider. Toward Proctor, Gronk's Grill and Bar covers the neighborhood-bar slot.
Downtown and Canal Park are about thirteen minutes for the full range, and Superior is thirteen across the bridges.
The honest framing: no coffee, no restaurant and no bar inside Irving, but the shortest walk to a real commercial strip of any neighborhood in this part of the city.
