The Gopher is the bar and grill on the west side of North Central Avenue in Spirit Valley, directly across from the Rustic.
Between them, and with Mr. D's and the Kom-On-Inn a few blocks away, this is the densest cluster of neighborhood taverns anywhere in Duluth outside the downtown core. That is a straightforward inheritance from west Duluth's working history, and it is still the shape of the commercial district today, alongside newer restaurants on the same blocks.
