Daily life in Woodland, Duluth, Minnesota
Part of the Woodland neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
Errands run west or downhill. The Kenwood Shopping Center, about two miles away, is the nearest full grocery and covers pharmacy, coffee, and everyday retail in one stop; Mount Royal covers the same ground at a similar distance downhill. Neither is a realistic winter walk from most of the neighborhood.
The Woodland Avenue node at Calvary Road handles small everyday needs and is genuinely walkable for the blocks around it, but it is not a substitute for a grocery run. Hardware and big-box are Miller Hill, about eight minutes, which is the shortest run to that corridor of any neighborhood in this guide.
For medical, Essentia Health and St. Luke's are both roughly eleven minutes downhill, and the university's own services sit at the neighborhood's edge. Gas is on the Woodland and Kenwood corridors. The Mount Royal branch library is nearest, with the main branch downtown.
