Daily life in Congdon Park, Duluth, Minnesota
Part of the Congdon Park neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
Day-to-day errands lean on the London Road corridor and the Mount Royal area just up the hill, which together cover groceries, a pharmacy, and gas. Mount Royal Fine Foods is the closest full grocery for most of the neighborhood at roughly a mile and a quarter, and the Whole Foods Co-op is a short drive further west.
Hardware is the one everyday errand Congdon does not have close by. The nearest independent hardware store is Marshall Hardware on the Lakeside block, about three miles east, and the big-box options are on Miller Hill. Gas stations sit along London Road at several points between the neighborhood and downtown.
For bigger shopping, the Miller Hill corridor is about twelve minutes and covers big-box retail, the mall, and most chain services. Essentia Health and St. Luke's, the two large hospital systems, are both downtown-adjacent and roughly eight to ten minutes away, which is a genuine practical advantage of the east side. The main branch of the Duluth Public Library is downtown, with the Mount Royal branch closer.
