Daily life in Kenwood, Duluth, Minnesota
Part of the Kenwood neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
This is Kenwood's strongest section, and the reason to buy here. The Kenwood Shopping Center puts a grocery store, a pharmacy, a coffee shop, eateries, and a run of small businesses in a single cluster on Kenwood Avenue, within walking distance of much of the neighborhood. Every other neighborhood in this guide requires a drive for the weekly shop.
For everything the shopping center does not cover, Miller Hill is about seven minutes west and carries the mall, big-box retail, hardware, and most chain services. That is the shortest run to that corridor from any neighborhood in this guide.
Medical is downhill: Essentia Health and St. Luke's are both roughly ten minutes, with the university's services closer still. Gas is on the Kenwood and Arrowhead corridors. The airport is eight minutes, which matters if you or a partner travel for work. The Mount Royal branch library is the nearest to this side of the hill, with the main branch downtown.
