Lincoln Park's outdoor access is much better than its reputation, and it is one of the strongest arguments for buying here.
The neighborhood's namesake park runs along Miller Creek as it drops off the hillside, with a trail of about 1.2 miles following the water through heavy foliage past a waterfall. It is the same idea as Congdon Park and Chester Park on the east side, a creek ravine kept public while the neighborhood built around it, and it is three blocks from the breweries.
Up the hill, Enger Park holds the stone observation tower, a Japanese peace garden, hiking trails, and the golf course the city chose to invest in when it closed Lester Park Golf Course in 2020. The view from Enger Tower over the harbor and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the best in Duluth, and it belongs to this side of town.
Two miles northwest, the Piedmont trail system is the technical end of the city's mountain bike network, known for rocky descents on steep hillside ground. It connects to the Duluth Traverse, the roughly 40-mile spine trail linking five trail centers within a network exceeding 90 total miles (COGGS, accessed 2026-08-13). The Superior Hiking Trail's in-city section runs the ridge above.
Add Spirit Mountain about ten minutes west for lift-served skiing and downhill mountain biking, and Wade Stadium for summer baseball, and the west side's recreation offer is competitive with anything on the east side except lake frontage.
