Lincoln Park is a product of the industrial head of the lakes. The neighborhood built out between roughly 1885 and 1940 as housing for people working the docks, the rail yards, the mills, and the manufacturing that lined the St. Louis Bay waterfront, and the housing reflects that: modest, dense, and close to the work.

Lincoln Park has more going on than any neighborhood in this guide except the East End, and it feels it. The Craft District blocks are busy on evenings and weekends, with people walking between taprooms, and the mix of visitors and residents gives it an energy the quieter east-side neighborhoods do not have.

Lots are narrow, platted, and close to the street, with alleys and detached garages, on a hillside grid that gets steeper as you climb.

Lincoln Park sits in Duluth Public Schools (ISD 709) on the west-side pathway: Lincoln Park Middle School, then Denfeld High School. Denfeld is at 401 North 44th Avenue West and enrolls roughly 951 students (NCES Common Core of Data, 2024-2025, accessed 2026-08-13), about two-thirds the size of East on the other side of the city.

Lincoln Park's outdoor access is much better than its reputation, and it is one of the strongest arguments for buying here.

This is the best dining-to-price ratio in Duluth, and it is not close. Lincoln Park has more walkable food and drink than any neighborhood in this guide except the East End, at roughly half the housing cost.

Lincoln Park has the shortest commute in this guide. Downtown is about six minutes, Superior twelve, Miller Hill ten, and the airport fourteen. I-35 runs along the neighborhood's southern edge, which is the reason those numbers are so low and also a source of noise on the lower blocks.
