Restaurants & dining in Bayview Heights, Duluth, Minnesota
Part of the Bayview Heights neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.
Bayview Heights has no dining of its own, and this page will not pretend otherwise. What it has is Proctor, five minutes west, which does more than you would expect from a town of its size.
Black Woods Grill & Bar on the Proctor side is the nearest full-service restaurant and the default for a family dinner out. Gronk's Grill & Bar covers the neighborhood-bar slot, and Proctor Pizza and Sub Shop handles the Friday-night pizza. Between them, that is a workable everyday rotation without descending the hill.
For anything beyond everyday, the drive is short by Duluth standards. Ten to twelve minutes downhill and east puts you in West Duluth and the Lincoln Park Craft District, which is where the region's most interesting eating and drinking has landed: Duluth Grill for scratch cooking, OMC Smokehouse for barbecue with a patio, Bent Paddle Brewing and Ursa Minor for taprooms, and Duluth Cider. Downtown and Canal Park are fourteen to sixteen minutes for the full range.
The honest framing: if you are content to drive five minutes for a burger and twelve for something better, the situation here is comfortable, and considerably better than the far-west neighborhoods down along the river.
