There is nothing in the neighborhood, and yet the eating here is better than that sounds, because of one restaurant and two directions.
The one restaurant is the New Scenic Cafe, up Scenic 61 just past the city line, which has been the region's destination restaurant for years and which for this neighborhood functions as the local. Being able to walk out of a lakefront house and be at it in a few minutes is genuinely one of the arguments for this address.
Southwest, six to eight minutes, is the Lakeside block on East Superior Street, and it covers everyday life: Amity Coffee for mornings, Crank and Dasher for ice cream, Ritual Salad and Apothecary for lunch, Sammy's Pizza at 4631 for the pizza institution, and Lake Superior Brewing at 5324 for a taproom with food and rooms upstairs. That block is the practical answer to most dining questions from this address.
Northeast, eighteen to twenty minutes, is the shore: Betty's Pies on the way to Two Harbors, and Castle Danger Brewery and the rest of Two Harbors after it. For a household here, Two Harbors and Lakeside are roughly equidistant in feel even though they are not in miles, and which one you use depends on which direction you were already going.
What this corridor does not have is anything you can walk to, anything open late, or any variety without a drive.
