About Betty's Pies

Betty's Pies at 1633 Highway 61 began in 1957 when Betty's father built a fish shack on the North Shore highway. Betty added pies to the menu in 1958 and converted the stand into a cafe, and nearly seventy years later it is one of the few restaurants in Minnesota that people plan a drive around.

The pie is the reason to stop, and the line out the door in July is a fixed feature of a Minnesota summer. The diner menu behind it is solid and unfussy.

For Two Harbors residents it is less a restaurant than a landmark that happens to serve food, and a reliable answer to the question of where to take visiting relatives.

Good to know: pies, diner menu, fish, sandwiches, North Shore landmark, seasonal crowds.
