East End

Parks & recreation in East End, Wisconsin

Part of the East End neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.

Barker's Island is the neighborhood's front yard: a made island on the bay with a beach, a marina, a maritime museum, and the walking loop most residents use. The Osaugie Trail runs the bay shore from here toward downtown and is the main cycling and walking route, and on flat ground with a regular grid the East End is genuinely bikeable in a way almost nothing in Duluth is.

Nemadji Golf Course, the city's 36-hole municipal course, sits south along the river and is skied in winter. Wisconsin Point, about three and a half miles east, is one of the largest freshwater sandbars in the world and the best beach walk in the region. Amnicon Falls State Park, with its waterfalls and covered footbridge, is about twelve miles east on the Amnicon River.

Winter: Cross-country skiing at Nemadji Golf Course.
