The East End and Endion sit in Duluth Public Schools (ISD 709), and this neighborhood has an unusual advantage: Ordean East Middle School is inside it, at 2900 East 4th Street, enrolling roughly 1,037 students in grades 6 to 8 (NCES Common Core of Data, accessed 2026-08-13). Duluth East High School is about eight minutes east at 40th Avenue East.
The elementary assignment needs address-level confirmation and is the one school question that genuinely matters here. The neighborhood sits near an ISD 709 attendance boundary: the eastern blocks generally feed Congdon Park Elementary on East Superior Street, while the western blocks toward downtown may be assigned elsewhere. Use the district's school locator or call ISD 709 with the specific address rather than relying on any neighborhood-level statement, including this one.
Private options are unusually close. The Stella Maris Academy Holy Rosary campus is at 2802 East 4th Street, directly across from Holy Rosary Cathedral and walkable from a good share of the neighborhood, covering early childhood through grade 3. Marshall School is about twelve minutes up the hill. Private schools are not covered by Minnesota Department of Education report card data, so this guide does not rate them alongside the public schools. The College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota Duluth are both within about ten minutes.
