About Marshall School
Marshall School at 1215 Rice Lake Road is Duluth's independent, non-sectarian college preparatory school and the secular counterpart to Stella Maris Academy. It enrolls roughly 440 students at a student-teacher ratio of about 9 to 1, and competes in Minnesota State High School League athletics as the Hilltoppers.
It runs K through 12 across three divisions: Forest School for kindergarten through grade 4, Middle School for grades 5 to 8, and Upper School for grades 9 to 12 (Marshall School, accessed 2026-08-13). That commute is a real factor and worth driving at 7:45 on a February morning before committing.
