You will love the East End and Endion if you want to live in a city rather than beside one. This is the Duluth address where you can walk to a pub, a park, a rose garden, a lakeshore path, and a downtown, own a house with real boom-era architecture, and pay meaningfully less than Congdon Park asks for the same era. It suits first-time buyers, young professionals, anyone working downtown or at the hospitals, people who would rather not drive in winter, and investors who understand converted hillside property.
Look elsewhere if you want quiet. This is the noisiest neighborhood in the guide, with London Road, I-35 on the lower western blocks, the harbor, and downtown all audible depending on where you stand. Look elsewhere if the grades would wear you down, because these are the steepest everyday hills here and they do not get easier in February. Look elsewhere if you want a large lot, off-street parking as a given, or new construction, none of which this neighborhood offers.
And do two things before you buy: confirm the elementary assignment for the specific address, and verify the legal use and rental licensing of any property that looks like it has been converted.
