Norton Park

Who lives in Norton Park, Duluth, Minnesota

Part of the Norton Park neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.

Norton Park is a small, quiet, owner-majority neighborhood. The shared tract reports 71.5% owner-occupancy, 28.5% renters and a $764 median rent (ACS 5-year 2023 estimates, accessed 2026-08-13), though that tract covers a great deal more ground than this neighborhood and skews toward the Spirit Valley corridor.

The most visible household types are long-tenured owners, many from families with several generations in the far west end, first-time buyers drawn by the entry price, and, increasingly, people who chose the neighborhood specifically for the trailhead. That last group is small but distinct.

Households here are car-dependent for everything except recreation, which is a reversal of the usual pattern: you drive to buy groceries and walk or ride to do everything enjoyable.

Commute patterns lean toward the west side, the Miller Hill corridor and downtown, with a meaningful share working in Proctor and the western industrial corridor.
