Norton Park is a small, quiet, strongly owner-occupied neighborhood. The tract that contains it reports 84.8% owner-occupancy, 15.2% renters and a $1,075 median rent (ACS 5-year 2023 estimates, Census Tract 36, accessed 2026-08-14). That tract also covers Smithville and Riverside, so the figure describes the river corridor as a whole rather than these blocks alone.
The most visible household types are long-tenured owners, many from families with several generations in the far west end, first-time buyers drawn by the entry price, and, increasingly, people who chose the neighborhood specifically for the trailhead. That last group is small but distinct.
