Norton Park is in Duluth Public Schools (ISD 709) on the west-side pathway: Laura MacArthur Elementary, then Lincoln Park Middle School, then Denfeld High School.
Laura MacArthur at 720 North Central Avenue enrolls roughly 277 students in prekindergarten through grade 5, about six minutes northeast. Parcels at the southwestern end of the neighborhood may be assigned to Stowe Elementary at 715 101st Avenue West instead, which enrolls about 245. Lincoln Park Middle at 3215 West 3rd Street enrolls about 606, and Denfeld High School at 401 North 44th Avenue West about 951 (NCES Common Core of Data, 2024-2025, accessed 2026-08-13).
Distance is the honest headline. There is no school inside the neighborhood, Denfeld is about eight minutes northeast by car, and Lincoln Park Middle is a substantial ride from this end of the city. A family here should map the actual bus route and time it in February rather than reasoning from the map. And because the neighborhood straddles the likely Laura MacArthur and Stowe boundary, confirm the assignment for your specific address with the district.
Denfeld enrolls about two-thirds as many students as Duluth East across the city, which means smaller cohorts and easier access to activities against a narrower course catalog.
