Fairmount is the West Duluth neighborhood most Duluthians have been to without knowing its name, because the Lake Superior Zoo sits inside it at 72nd Avenue West. It occupies the Grand Avenue corridor between Keene Creek and Kingsbury Creek, with some of the lowest prices in the city, genuine outdoor access, an arterial running through the middle of it, and a flood history worth asking about.
