Lakeside reads as a quiet, low-traffic residential neighborhood with an active daytime and evening street life around the Superior Street block, the school, and the rink. Streets are lit, sidewalks are common on the older blocks, and the park and Lakewalk carry steady foot traffic in every season.
For anything beyond feel, use city-published trend data rather than impressions. Citywide trends over the last several years have moved down in both violent and property offense counts. We describe streets and conditions, never the people who live on them.
The practical cautions here are seasonal and environmental rather than criminal: black bears in yards in late summer, deer on the residential streets at dawn and dusk, ice on the uphill blocks during freeze-thaw cycles, and cold, fast water in the Lester River gorge in spring.
