Riverside reads as a very quiet, low-density river neighborhood with almost no through traffic and a strong owner-occupied character. There is no commercial activity to draw anyone in after dark and street lighting is limited.
For anything beyond feel, use city-published trend data rather than impressions or reputation. The Duluth Police Department's 2025 Annual Report is the right starting point for current citywide figures (accessed 2026-08-13), and citywide trends over the last several years have moved down in both violent and property offense counts. We describe streets and conditions, never the people who live on them.
The genuine considerations here are environmental and logistical rather than criminal. Emergency response times are longer at this distance, which matters for fire and medical and affects insurance. The river is cold and fast in spring melt and has a flood record. Power outages last longer out here, so a generator or a wood stove is a common and sensible investment. Deer and black bears are part of the landscape along the wooded hillside.
