What that means practically is that eating out is a planned trip in one of two directions. Southwest, Cloquet is about fifteen minutes and is what most households here actually use: Sammy's Pizza, The Jack, and the seasonal Gordy's Hi-Hat drive-in, plus the town's everyday restaurants. Northeast, Gary-New Duluth is five to ten minutes for whatever is currently operating there, and Spirit Valley is about twenty minutes.
