Restaurants & dining in Smithville, Duluth, Minnesota

Part of the Smithville neighborhood guide. Back to the full guide.

Smithville has no restaurants, cafes or bars of its own, and the nearest options are a deliberate drive in one of two directions.

Southwest to Cloquet, about eighteen minutes, is what many households here actually use: Sammy's Pizza, the seasonal Gordy's Hi-Hat drive-in, and the town's everyday restaurants.

Northeast toward West Duluth, the Spirit Valley strip is about fourteen minutes for everyday options, and the Lincoln Park Craft District is twenty to twenty-one minutes for the region's most interesting eating and drinking: Duluth Grill for scratch cooking, OMC Smokehouse for barbecue, Bent Paddle Brewing and Ursa Minor for taprooms.

Gary-New Duluth immediately south carries whatever is currently operating there, which is the closest thing to a local option.

Downtown and Canal Park are about twenty-two minutes for the full range. If walkable dining matters at all, this is the wrong address, and the ridge does not compensate for it.
