Denfeld carries a citywide reputation that runs behind its current condition, which is a pattern common to neighborhoods that went through industrial decline and are recovering slowly rather than dramatically. The reality on the ground varies by block: the streets around the school and up the hillside read as settled and residential, while the blocks nearest the industrial waterfront and the highway are busier and more mixed in condition.
