You will love Cloquet if you want a complete small city at a price that still works, with a downtown you can walk to, a hospital and a grocery in town, and Duluth twenty-five minutes up the interstate when you want more. It suits first-time buyers who want a 1920s bungalow they can improve, families who want a larger district with a broader course catalog than the small suburbs offer, mill and trades households, remote workers who want a low cost of living and do not need the commute, and outdoor people who will use Jay Cooke, the Munger Trail, and the state forest.

Look elsewhere if the mill would bother you, and be honest with yourself about that after visiting the specific block rather than the city. Look elsewhere if Lake Superior is the point of moving here, because Cloquet has a river and no lake. Look elsewhere if a twenty-five minute interstate commute in northern Minnesota winter conditions is more than you want to take on, or if you need new construction and a large inventory to choose from.
