About Superior Ice Arena
The Superior Ice Arena at 1015 Oakes Avenue is the city's indoor rink, carrying public skating, youth and adult hockey, and figure skating through the season.
In a region where hockey organizes a large part of the winter social calendar, the arena does the work that a community center does elsewhere. It is centrally located, within a few minutes of downtown, Central Park, and the North End, which makes it one of the few indoor recreation facilities genuinely shared across Superior's neighborhoods.
The city also operates a set of outdoor rinks with warming sheds distributed across its neighborhoods through the winter, which handle everyday pickup skating closer to home.
Note that Wessman Arena, on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus, is a separate facility serving the university's hockey programs.
