About Fichtner Park and Fichtner Fields
Fichtner Park at 5255 Maple Grove Road is Hermantown's main athletic complex and, in practice, its town square. The site carries baseball diamonds, the turfed Centricity field, a skatepark, a playground, and a pavilion available for reservation (City of Hermantown, accessed 2026-08-13).
In a city with no downtown and no walkable commercial block, the ball fields do a lot of civic work. Four nights a week through the summer the complex is full of youth baseball and softball, and the parking lot is the closest thing Hermantown has to a public gathering place outside the school campus and the arena.
The name, like several Hermantown park and road names, comes from one of the farm families who held the section-line ground before the township became a suburb.
Good to know: baseball fields, Centricity turf field, skatepark, playground, reservable pavilion.
