About Hartley Nature Center

Hartley Nature Center is the education and stewardship organization based at the main entrance to Hartley Park on Woodland Avenue. It runs environmental education for area schools, summer day camps, public naturalist programs, and volunteer stewardship in the roughly 660-acre park it serves.

The building itself is the practical trailhead for Hartley: it is where most visitors park, pick up a trail map, and start a hike, ski, or ride. Staff maintain trail condition information and run interpretive programming that makes the park usable for people who would not otherwise venture into 660 acres of woods.

For east-side and above-the-hill families, the center is one of the most-used shared institutions outside the schools, and its camps fill early. Membership supports both the programming and trail work.
