About Tri-County Corridor
The Tri-County Corridor is the old rail grade running west out of Superior toward Iron River and Ashland, converted to a multi-use trail and managed across county lines in northwestern Wisconsin.
It is a working motorized corridor more than a recreation path in the Lakewalk sense. ATV and UTV traffic uses it heavily in the warm months and snowmobiles in winter, which is the main practical difference between it and the Osaugie Trail on the Superior waterfront. Cyclists and walkers do use it, with the surface and traffic in mind.
For Douglas County residents it is the long-distance connection to the rest of northern Wisconsin and a significant part of why the county's snowmobile network functions the way it does.
