About Esko's Lincoln Secondary School

Esko's Lincoln Secondary School is the secondary school for Esko Public Schools (ISD 99), enrolling roughly 603 students across grades 7 through 12 on the shared Esko campus (NCES Common Core of Data, 2024-2025, accessed 2026-08-13). The district and community also refer to it as Esko's Lincoln High School.

The Lincoln name goes back to the 1920 school built near Esko's Corner, which along with Alex Esko's 1919 store pulled the scattered farm settlement of Thomson Township into something that functioned as a village.

A single 7-12 building is an unusual configuration and it is central to what families are buying: a cohort of roughly a hundred per grade, teachers who know every student, and a school that functions as the community's town square. The honest counterweight is breadth, since a school this size cannot offer the course catalog of Cloquet's ISD 94 ten minutes west.

Esko Public Schools enrolls roughly 1,287 students across two buildings on one shared campus (NCES Common Core of Data, 2024-2025). Because there is one building per level there is no attendance-boundary question inside the district and one cohort moves through together from prekindergarten to graduation, which is the single most cited reason households move into the Esko attendance area and why housing inside its lines is priced above comparable rural Carlton County property. The attendance area does not follow Thomson Township lines exactly and boundaries change, so confirm a specific address with the district before buying on that assumption. This guide builds its own transparent school ratings from Minnesota Department of Education report card data rather than republishing licensed third-party scores.
