The Vanilla Bean at 812 7th Avenue has been cooking in Two Harbors since 1998, best known for brunch: signature oven-baked omelets, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, award-winning soups and sandwiches, and a bacon-wrapped mini-donut Bloody Mary.
The Swedish pancakes are not an affectation. They come from the food traditions the town's founding households brought with them when they arrived for the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad and the ore docks in the 1880s and 1890s, and those traditions stuck.
It is the town's main sit-down breakfast and it is busy on summer mornings.
