About Proctor city parks and ballfields
Proctor's municipal park system is small and practical, built around ball fields, a soccer field, a playground and pavilion, and the gazebo grounds at the historical museum, with the school playgrounds and the Proctor Golf Course filling in around them (City of Proctor, accessed 2026-08-13).
The city does not need a large park inventory, because it is surrounded by one. Spirit Mountain is three miles away, the Willard Munger State Trail's northern trailhead is in town, Magney-Snively's old-growth maple and the Superior Hiking Trail are on the ridge above, and Jay Cooke State Park is twenty minutes south. Very few towns of 3,000 sit at the center of that much regional recreation.
What the city parks do is the everyday work: youth baseball and softball, the summer festival, and a place for the neighborhood to gather.
