About Keene Creek Park

Keene Creek Park protects more than 80 acres of creek corridor in the southeast corner of Hermantown, off Okerstrom Road, with a half mile of paved trail, informal walking routes, a small baseball field, and cross-country skiing in winter (City of Hermantown, accessed 2026-08-13).

The creek itself is the reason to care. Keene Creek is a coldwater trout stream running through a suburb, which is an unusual thing to have inside a city's park inventory and an easy one to drive past without noticing. The wooded bottom feels genuinely like the woods rather than like a mowed park, and it is the only place in Hermantown that does.

For residents of southern Hermantown and northern Proctor it is the nearest walking woods, and in a city whose park system otherwise runs to ball fields and turf, it is the one that gets used for quiet.

Good to know: trout stream, half-mile paved trail segment, informal walking trails, small baseball field, cross-country skiing.
