About Esko school campus fields and community park

Esko does not have a conventional municipal park system, because Esko is not a municipality. What it has instead is a school campus that functions as the community's park, gathering place, and civic center all at once.

The fields, playground, track, and courts around the ISD 99 buildings absorb the youth sports, the community events, and the everyday after-school and summer use that a city park department would otherwise handle. On a Friday night in fall the campus is the busiest place in Thomson Township by a wide margin, and it is where most people in the community actually see each other.

For a buyer, the practical implication is worth naming: living in Esko means your recreation infrastructure is the school's, supplemented by Thomson Township facilities and by Jay Cooke State Park six miles south.

Good to know: ball fields, playground, track, tennis courts, community gathering space.
