The denominational detail is worth stating plainly, because Duluth has several congregations whose names begin with "United" and they belong to four different bodies. Peace is United Church of Christ. Elsewhere in this guide you will find United Methodist congregations, the United Protestant Church in Morgan Park, and United Lutheran Church of Proctor, and none of those are the same denomination as this one or as each other. The shared word is a coincidence of naming rather than a family relationship.

Its position puts it within walking distance of much of the East End and the lower Congdon streets, in the part of Duluth where the older institutions sit close enough together that a household can reasonably choose between several on foot. That is a genuine difference between the hillside neighbourhoods and the newer areas above the hill, where everything assumes a car.
