Vikre Distillery makes small-batch spirits beside the Aerial Lift Bridge, at what it fairly describes as the world's farthest-inland seaport. The house approach is local: foraged Northwoods botanicals, regional grains, oak barrels, and Lake Superior water, which produces gins and aquavits that taste specifically of this place rather than of a category.

The cocktail room is open to the public alongside tours and tastings, and it is one of the few rooms in Canal Park that reads as a destination for locals rather than a stop on a visitor itinerary. Bottles are sold on site.

For residents of the district it is the walkable evening option that is not a brewpub, and for anyone shopping Canal Park real estate it is a fair illustration of what the neighborhood offers: something genuinely good, a hundred yards from your door, with a line in front of it in July.
