About Trophy Cafe
Trophy Cafe is the daytime anchor of the short commercial strip on Commonwealth Avenue in Gary-New Duluth, open daily from 7am to 2pm for breakfast and lunch, with daily specials and catering (Trophy Cafe, accessed 2026-08-13).
Its significance to this end of the city is out of proportion to its size. Far west Duluth has no commercial district beyond a few blocks of Commonwealth Avenue, and no full grocery store, so a cafe that opens early and serves the neighborhood every day of the week is the practical morning gathering place for Gary-New Duluth, Morgan Park and Fond du Lac alike. For residents of Fond du Lac in particular, which has no store, no school and no commercial block at all, this strip is the nearest ordinary destination.
Good to know: breakfast, lunch, daily specials, catering.
Neighborhoods it serves
Two company-era river towns that people now treat as one, and the service center for the far west end.
Morgan ParkThe concrete company town US Steel built, and the neighborhood that outlived the mill.
Fond du LacThe oldest community in Duluth, 14 miles from downtown, at the bottom of the lake.
