About Grandma's Saloon & Grill

Grandma's Saloon & Grill sits at 522 Lake Avenue South, directly under the Aerial Lift Bridge, and it is the closest thing Canal Park has to an institution. The dining rooms are crammed with antiques and Duluth memorabilia, the menu is American pub food, and the deck in summer looks straight up at the bridge and the ship canal.

Its cultural footprint is larger than its menu. Grandma's is the namesake sponsor of Grandma's Marathon, the June race that starts near Two Harbors, runs down Scenic Highway 61 and London Road, and finishes a few steps from the restaurant's front door. On marathon weekend the block belongs to the race.

For a visitor it is the default Canal Park meal. For a resident it is the place you take people from out of town, and the place you avoid on a July Saturday at seven in the evening.
