About Billings Park

Billings Park sits on the St. Louis Bay shoreline at the western end of Superior, with walking trails along the water, a boat launch, picnic areas, and a playground (Gotta Be Superior, accessed 2026-08-13). It faces Duluth's west side across the river, which gives it a very different view from the harbor-facing parks on the other side of the city.

The park is also the reason the surrounding neighborhood has its name. That part of Superior was originally called Steel Plant, after the West Superior Iron and Steel Company that drove its early development, and it took the Billings name after businessman Frederick Billings donated the riverfront land to the city.

For residents of the west end it functions as the neighborhood green space and the closest water access, and the combination of a quiet river bluff and an easy launch makes it one of the more pleasant small parks in the Twin Ports.
